A retired couple purchased a second home to get closer to their family. This naturally led them to seek to remodel the condo to suit their needs better. The kitchen needed to be updated, with dark walls separating the kitchen from the dining/living rooms. The living room had a nice vaulted ceiling; however, one of the windows had a massive AC unit installed in the window. On top of that, most of the windows were unsafe for their grandkids (due to them opening out, and the condo being on the second floor).
Another thing to keep in mind was the Master Suite. There were no doors between the bedroom and the bathroom, and the bathroom was wildly impractical. The shower area was small, with an even smaller shower due to a soffit created to accommodate a fiberglass shower insert. The closet was also unusable, due to being massive yet empty, with only a single shelf/rod and mirror sliding doors.
More remodels included the addition of a large vanity and makeup area in the bathroom, an expanded curbless walk-in shower, the demolition of the separating walls in the kitchen, increased natural light, an open island to the living room, a larger fireplace, new kid-proof windows, and a custom built TV/books unit. The unit was designed to accommodate a large TV for the husband, and tons of books for the wife (as she was an avid reader), and accommodating the vaulted ceiling.
